The City of Montreal's RénoPlex program can provide financial assistance for certain projects. If you're planning to add greenery to your property, improve water management, or repair a driveway, this program can reduce the net cost of your project—provided you meet the criteria and deadlines.

What types of work are eligible?

Exterior landscaping (greening and permeable surfaces)

An example of an acceptable measure is:

• 10-02 — Laying a plant surface or a honeycomb paver

Specifically, this can include:

• Replacing a mineralized surface with a vegetated surface

• Install honeycomb paving or a plant stabilizing trellis.

• Create a combination of these coatings

Garage entrance

Two positions that are often mentioned:

• 11-01 — Filling in a garage entrance

What technical conditions must be met (exterior layout)?

Regarding outdoor landscaping, the guide specifies, in particular, that:

• The portion of the land where mineralized surfaces are removed must represent at least 10 m² .

• This area must be excavated and prepared for the installation of:

• a vegetated surface

• honeycomb paving or a plant stabilizing trellis

What is the minimum requirement to submit an application?

The total project amount must be a minimum of $3,000 .

How does the approval process work (and what are the timeframes)?

• If the application meets the program requirements, the City informs the person in writing whether the application receives conditional approval or is refused .

• The City may request additional information/documents : these must be submitted within 30 days of the date of the notice, otherwise the request is closed .

• Eligible work must be completed within 18 months from the date of conditional approval.

• If the permit is issued after conditional approval, the 18-month period is postponed by the same number of days, up to a maximum of 24 months after conditional approval.

• Upon written request sent before the deadline , the City may extend the deadline once only , for a period of 3 months .
